The paper presented at ENTER 2008 is based on findings from the ERDF-funded study on Dynamic Packaging and from e-Business W@tch 2006, a study commissioned on behalf of the European Commission – and complements these results with more recent data and analysis. Its basic intention is to critically analyse the notion of Dynamic Packaging (DP) from the perspective of SMEs and small tourism destinations. From their perspective, most DP promises do not withstand a critical investigation. DP benefits do exist, but in order to exploit these potentials enormous organisational and technological challenges must be taken.
