Philip Alford

Philip Alford is a Senior Lecturer and Employer Partnership Fellow at the University of Bedfordshire where his specialist teaching area is e tourism, focussing on B2B e-business. His Ph.D. completed in March 2007 is entitled “A communicative model for stakeholder consultation: Towards a framework for action inquiry in tourism IT” and examines the non-technical factors which affect the success of IT partnerships. It is an interdisciplinary study strongly underpinned by Critical Systems Practice within the Management Science domain. He also contributes to other courses including Research Methods and International Air Transport. The Employer Partnership Fellow role involves Philip identifying opportunities for working collaboratively with industry. Philip is a Certified Trainer for Tiscover – the world’s leading supplier of destination marketing solutions. He is a regular contributor to Mintel International having written reports on e-business in the travel industry, and destination marketing. Philip is a visiting professor at Institut de Management Hôtelier International - ESSEC Business School, Paris, and on the Msc Strategic Tourism Management program at CERAM Sophia Antipolis European School of Business, Nice, France. Prior to working in higher education, Philip worked in the fields of destination marketing and tour operating.
