WHAT IS AN IFITT CHAPTER?
A Chapter is a network of national, regional, local IFITT experts,
companies and universities active in the tourism and IT field, who function
as intellectual and geographical nodes of activity for both the IFITT members
and the tourism and IT community at large, offering seminars, workshops, press
releases, etc. to spread the knowledge about the use and impact of new information
and communications technologies in the travel & tourism industry at local
level.
WHAT ARE ITS AIMS?
Chapters vary in size, location and nature of activities, but all
of them share the same philosophy, strategy and mission:
• develop their own activities in order to raise awareness
of the relationships between IT and Travel & Tourism in their country/region
• facilitate contact and exchange of information between national members
of the travel & tourism industry, TMT (technology, media and telecommunications)
sectors and academia to develop IT strategies.
• promote IFITT activities and products (e.g. ENTER Conference, Journal
of IT and Tourism, Special Interest Groups, workshops) nationwide, regionally
and locally.
