HITA Mission

The purpose of HITA aligns with the overall IFITT mission and is to advance the inter-action between information technology educators, vendors and users in the global hospitality industry with the goal of improving both the quality of education and the technology itself.
Objectives
- Provide a forum for discussion of matters of mutual interest to members of HITA
- Promote and increase the use of IT as a recognised tool within the hospitality industry.
- Establish a network of mutually supportive members sharing strengths, expertise and information by bringing users, vendors and educators from all sectors of the hospitality industry together to create a closer working relationship.
- Assist hospitality educational programs in implementing information technology curricula.
- Develop innovative approaches to IT learning and teaching.
- Act as a forum for the dissemination of knowledge, and for the resolution of common problems through conferences, workshops, publications and an advisory service.
- Develop both information technology curriculum and innovative approaches to its delivery and assessment.
- Bring hospitality educators, vendors and practitioners from all sectors of the industry to create a more symbiotic relationship among them.
- Seek recognition as a consultative body by such other bodies as may be considered appropriate.
- Provide a collective voice for HITA
- Promote and protect the professional interests of members of HITA.
- Encourage both undergraduate and postgraduate students to further their studies in hospitality IT by arranging sponsorships/ scholarships and to participate in the work of HITA by creating student chapters.
- Foster the development and adoption of standards of best practice in the application of hospitality technology in such areas as data security and electronic data interchange.
- Initiate and arrange sponsorship for collaborative research projects between members of (HITA) and/or in partnership with industry..
