About HITA
This area is intended to give some helpful background on HITA; how we came into being, where we are now and where we are headed. The sections on history and mission should cover the main information and will build substantially over the coming year. If there is anything specific about HITA that you don't know or need to know more about - just email a Board member and ask - we will do our best to respond promptly and update this area of the site.
The Hospitality Information Technology Association (HITA) was formed on January 26, 1992 by a group of hospitality educators, industry practitioners and Information Technology vendors attending a technology conference presented by Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, Ithaca, New York. Members of HITA are people who are in the forefront of hospitality technology development, innovators in the use of computing who use a variety of tools to think and communicate clearly and to lead people effectively in hospitality technology issues. This area will begin to build some history and an archive of HITA facts, figures and photos so if you are a longstanding HITA member, send stuff in! In June 2006 HITA became a part of the IFITT federation and now functions as a semi-autonomous chapter.
Any HITA members with interesting photos, documents or general memorabilia from earlier conferences or events please send them in!!
