The IFITT Australasian chapter has been in existence since June 1999. Roberto Daniele, then a Lecturer in Tourism, at RMIT was the driving force and subsequently the first President of IFITT Australasia. Roberto recognised the need for a vehicle like IFITT in Australia to provide a linkage to information coming out of the Northern Hemisphere as well as to provide a credible network in Australasia.
With a small dedicated team, the Board, IFITT Australasia has achieved some significant successes including creating an academic network and jointly hosting the inaugural TTFF (Tourism Technology Future Forum), with Tourism Queensland.
