About IFITTMarianna Sigala
PhD Marianna Sigala holds a BA from the Athens University
of Economics & Business in Greece, a Postgraduate Diploma from the University
of Lancaster, an MSc and PhD from the University of Surrey. Currently, she is
Lecturer in Operations and Production Management at the Department of Business
Administration of the University of Aegean, Greece, where she lectures courses
on Operations and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) management.
Before joining the University of Aegean, she had been lecturing at the Universities
of Strathclyde, Westminster and Surrey in the UK.
She has professional experience from the hospitality industry in Greece, while she has also contributed to several international research and consultancy projects in hospitality and tourism as well as in socio-economic development, e.g. Tempus-Phare, EAR projects. Her major research interests and publications are in ICT applications management and implementation in tourism and in education, specifically in the development and evaluation of e-learning pedagogy and models. Her work has been published in several international journals and conferences.
She currently serves on the editorial board of four international journals and on the Executive Board of the European Council on Hospitality, Restaurant and Institutional Education (EuroCHRIE) (as Vice-President) and of the International Federation for IT and Travel & Tourism (IFITT) (as Membership Director).
