His research includes services and tourism marketing, e-tourism and labour market research. He has lectured in the many fields of service management and operations research. In 2003 he was nominated for the "Eminent Scientist of the Year 2003" by the World Scientist Forum and the International Research Promotion Council. He serves in the following research associations: International Centre for Research and Education in Tourism (ICRET), The Royal Academic Council of Eminent Scientists, Erich Gutenberg meinschaft Köln e.V., Association International d´experts scientifiques du Tourisme (AIEST), Strategic Management Society (SMS). For the present, he is also the Director of the eTourism Competence Centre Austria, Innsbruck.
